Active listening strategies (C1)

1. Selective Listening (Escucha selectiva): No intentes entender cada palabra. Enfócate primero en la idea principal (gist) y luego vuelve a escuchar para captar detalles específicos.
2. Note-taking for Arguments (Toma de notas argumentativa): En lugar de escribir palabras sueltas, anota la estructura del argumento: Point -> Evidence -> Counter-argument. Esto es vital para el C1. ly Shadowing (Técnica de sombreado): Elige una frase compleja que te haya gustado y repítela en voz alta intentando imitar exactamente la entonación y el ritmo del locutor.
3. Contextual Guessing (Inferencia por contexto): Cuando escuches una palabra desconocida, no pauses el audio. Intenta deducir su significado basándote en el tono y las palabras que la rodean.
4. Identifying Signposting (Identificación de conectores): Presta especial atención a las palabras que indican cambios de dirección (however, nonetheless, conversely) para seguir el hilo lógico del hablante.

Follow-up task

Task: The Analytical Review

1. Vocabulary Extraction: Listen to your chosen episode and write down 8 new words or expressions. Create a table with three columns: Original Phrase, Meaning in English, and Your own sentence using the phrase.
2. Summary Writing: Write a 150-word summary of the episode. You must use at least 4 of the "key phrases" you learned in this guide to ensure you are practicing high-level collocations.
3. Critical Speaking (Voice Note): Record a 2-minute voice note on your phone. In this recording, you must:
   • Summarize the speaker's main argument.
   • State whether you agree or disagree with their perspective on generational conflict.
   • Use at least one "signposting" word (e.g., Furthermore, On the other hand) to structure your opinion.
