Escuchar podcasts auténticos es fundamental en el nivel C1 para acostumbrarse a la velocidad natural, los modismos y los diferentes acentos que no aparecen en los libros de texto. En esta unidad, utilizaremos audios de alta calidad para que aprendas a procesar información compleja sobre tecnología médica y ética digital.

• Why it's useful for C1: El ritmo es rápido y el lenguaje es muy dinámico, lo que entrena tu oído para el inglés americano coloquial pero culto. Es excelente para practicar la escucha de datos y hechos contrastados.

Active listening strategies (C1)

1. Pre-listening activation: Antes de darle al play, lee el título y busca tres términos técnicos relacionados. Esto prepara tu cerebro para el contexto temático.
2. The "Gist" vs. "Detail" approach: Escucha la primera vez sin detener el audio para captar la idea general (the gist). La segunda vez, busca detalles específicos como cifras o nombres.
3. Shadowing technique: Si escuchas una frase que te parece especialmente elegante o bien estructurada, repítela en voz alta inmediatamente intentando imitar la entonación y el ritmo exactos.
4. Note-taking with signposting: No escribas palabras sueltas; intenta anotar las "signpost words" (conectores como however, furthermore, consequently) para entender la estructura lógica del argumento.
5. Avoid the "transcription trap": No intentes entender cada palabra. Si te detienes en cada palabra que no conoces, perderás el hilo del discurso. Aprende a deducir el significado por el contexto.
6. Vocabulary mapping: En lugar de traducir, crea un mapa mental con la palabra nueva en el centro y escribe sinónimos o antónimos en inglés alrededor.

Follow-up task

Task: The Critical Review

1. Vocabulary Extraction: While listening, write down 5 new collocations (words that naturally go together, e.g., to implement a policy). Look up their meanings and write one original sentence for each.
2. Summary Synthesis: Write a 150-word summary of the podcast episode. You must use at least 3 of the "key phrases" you listened for to ensure you are incorporating new vocabulary.
3. Oral Argument: Record a 2-minute voice note on your phone summarizing your opinion on the topic discussed. You must use one "counter-argument" structure (e.g., "While some might argue that..., I am of the opinion that...").
4. Self-Correction: Listen to your own recording. Did you use the correct intonation? Did you hesitate too much? Note one thing to improve for the next episode.
