- Recycle the unit language around sleep science, circadian rhythm & productivity into sustained writing.
Listen to the model audio before you answer the lesson tasks.
Unit 67: Sleep Science, Circadian Rhythm & Productivity
Task (Cambridge C1 Advanced, Part 2)
Question: Your lecturer has asked you to write a report on the relationship between sleep patterns and professional productivity. You should analyse how understanding circadian rhythms can improve workplace efficiency and suggest how companies might support their employees' sleep hygiene.
Write your report. You are required to write between 220-260 words.
Evita contracciones (use do not instead of don't) y lenguaje coloquial.
Usa lenguaje de "probabilidad" (it is argued that, tends to, could potentially) para sonar más sofisticado y académico.

Report on the Impact of Sleep Hygiene on Workplace Productivity
Introduction The purpose of this report is to examine the correlation between sleep patterns and professional efficiency. It aims to analyse how circadian rhythms influence performance and to propose strategies for corporate implementation.
The Link Between Sleep and Productivity It is widely recognised that sleep is not merely a period of rest but a vital biological process for cognitive function. Research suggests that disruptions to the circadian rhythm—the body's internal clock—can lead to significant impairments in decision-making and attention spans. Consequently, employees suffering from sleep deprivation often exhibit decreased creativity and higher error rates, which ultimately undermines organisational productivity.
Corporate Support and Implementation To mitigate these issues, companies could consider more flexible working arrangements. For instance, allowing "flexible start times" would enable employees to align their working hours with their natural chronotypes (whether they are "morning people" or "night owls"). Furthermore, fostering a culture that respects sleep hygiene—such as discouraging late-night emails—could significantly reduce burnout. While such changes might initially seem disruptive, the long-term benefits regarding employee well-being and retention are substantial.
Conclusion and Recommendations In conclusion, understanding sleep science is essential for maintaining a high-performing workforce. It is recommended that management implements flexible scheduling to accommodate individual circadian rhythms. Additionally, providing educational workshops on sleep hygiene could empower staff to manage their energy levels more effectively.
Marking checklist
