Task (Cambridge C1 Advanced, Part 2)

Instructions: You see this task in the writing paper of the Cambridge C1 Advanced exam.

The task: You have recently attended a film festival where several directors presented their latest works. You are writing a review for a prestigious international film magazine.

Write a review of a film you have seen recently. In your review, you should: * Describe the film's plot and visual style. * Discuss whether the director's unique vision (auteur theory) is evident in the work. * Evaluate whether the film succeeds in conveying its intended message to the audience.

Write your review in 220-260 words in an appropriate style.

Tips (en español)

• Structure: Divide el texto en 4 párrafos: Introducción (contexto), Desarrollo 1 (trama/estilo), Desarrollo 2 (análisis del autor/mensaje) y Conclusión (veredicto final).
• Register: Mantén un tono semi-formal o formal. Aunque es una reseña, evita el lenguaje coloquial excesivo; usa un vocabulario sofisticado para demostrar nivel C1.
• Linking: Utiliza conectores de contraste y de énfasis (notwithstanding, arguably, furthermore) para que la transición entre la descripción y la crítica sea fluida.
• Hedging (Cautela): En el análisis crítico, no digas "The film is bad". Usa hedging como "The film fails to achieve..." o "One might argue that..." para sonar más académico y matizado.
