En esta unidad, entrenarás tu oído para comprender debates complejos sobre tecnología y psicología utilizando locutores nativos de alto nivel.

Active listening strategies (C1)

1. Predictive Listening: Antes de darle al play, lee el título y la descripción. Intenta predecir qué vocabulario técnico o conectores utilizarán los hablantes para preparar tu cerebro.
2. Note-taking by Argument: No intentes escribir cada palabra. En el nivel C1, debes anotar la idea principal y los argumentos de apoyo (por ejemplo: Argumento A vs. Argumento B).
3. Focus on Signposting: Presta especial atención a los conectores (e.g., however, conversely, furthermore). Estos son las "señales de tráfico" que te indican si el hablante está cambiando de idea o reforzándola.
4. Shadowing Technique: Si escuchas una frase con una estructura gramatical compleja o una pronunciación interesante, pausa el audio e intenta repetirla imitando exactamente la entonación y el ritmo.
5. Identify Nuance: No busques solo el significado literal. Intenta identificar la actitud del hablante: ¿es sarcástico, es escéptico o es entusiasta? Esto es clave para las preguntas de inferencia en el examen C1.
6. Selective Dictation: Si un hablante usa una expresión idiomática nueva, pausa y escríbela. Luego, intenta reconstruir la frase completa para entender cómo encaja gramaticalmente.

Follow-up task

Task: The Critical Review

1. Vocabulary Extraction: While listening, write down at least 8 new words or collocations. Look up their definitions and write one original sentence for each that relates to your own life.
2. Summary Synthesis: Write a 150-word summary of the podcast. You must use at least 4 of the "key phrases" you identified during your listening to practice using high-level vocabulary in context.
3. Oral Argument (The "Voice Note" Challenge): Record a 2-minute voice note on your phone. In this recording, you must state your opinion on the podcast's topic, using the structure: Introduction (the topic) $\rightarrow$ Summary of the speaker's view $\rightarrow$ Your counter-argument or agreement.
4. Self-Correction: Listen to your own voice note. Did you use the new vocabulary correctly? Did you stumble? Re-record the parts where you felt your fluency was low.
