Topic: Agriculture, Farming & Food Security
Question: Your lecturer has asked you to write a proposal regarding the future of food security in your country. You should consider the impact of modern technology on traditional farming and suggest how the government could support sustainable agricultural practices to ensure a stable food supply for the future.
Write your proposal. You must write between 220-260 words.
Tips (en español)
- Structure: Para una proposal, utiliza subtítulos claros (e.g., Introduction, Current Situation, Recommendations, Conclusion). Esto facilita la lectura y demuestra control estructural.
- Register: Mantén un tono formal y objetivo. Evita contracciones (don't, can't) y el uso de la primera persona del singular (I think) a menos que sea para dar una recomendación directa.
- Linking: Utiliza conectores de transición para guiar al lector entre los problemas actuales y tus propuestas (e.g., Furthermore, Consequently, In light of this).
- Hedging (Cautela): En el nivel C1, no afirmes cosas de forma absoluta. Usa lenguaje cauteloso como it is widely believed that... o this could lead to... para sonar más académico y profesional.
- Evaluación de ideas: No te limites a listar problemas. Debes evaluar la relación entre la tecnología y la sostenibilidad; el objetivo es proponer soluciones equilibradas.
- Time management: Dedica 5 minutos a planificar la estructura, 35 minutos a escribir y los últimos 10 minutos a revisar errores gramaticales y de ortografía.

Current Challenges Currently, the agricultural sector faces a dual challenge: the decline of traditional farming due to urbanisation and the environmental impact of intensive industrial farming. While modern technology has increased yields, it has often come at the cost of soil health and biodiversity. Consequently, the stability of our food supply is increasingly vulnerable to climate fluctuations.
Proposed Strategies To mitigate these risks, it is recommended that the government introduces subsidies for "Agri-Tech" solutions that focus on sustainability, such as precision irrigation and organic automation. This would allow farmers to increase efficiency without depleting natural resources. Furthermore, investment should be directed towards supporting young farmers to revitalise rural communities, ensuring that traditional knowledge is integrated with modern techniques.
Conclusion In conclusion, food security cannot rely solely on industrial output. It is imperative that we transition towards a model that integrates technological innovation with ecological preservation.
